Are the Pocket Pro, TF1000 Pro and USB 3.0 SSD flash drives compatible with Mac operating systems?
The Pocket Pro USB 3.0, TF1000 Pro and USB 3.0 External SSD can be operated on Mac computers but with transfer rates depending on the USB 3.0 or 2.0 ports available on the Mac. However, these products are sold formatted to NTFS, due to the high capacity of the models and to enable writing of files larger than 4GB. Most Mac computers are not enabled to write to NTFS formatted removable flash drives, even though they can read NTFS formatted data. Alternatives for operation include: - Reformat the device to FAT32 for greatest compatibility across operating systems. This limits file size to less than 4GB.
- Mac format the device (if only intended for operation on the Mac.)
- Obtain a third party driver or application to fully enable NTFS on the Mac, or a Windows utility to enable Mac formatted compatibility. Also, see this information.
Note the partitioning software included with these drives is a Windows compatible executable and will not run on a Mac.
